About Brahmatal Trek

Lohajung serving as the base camp, the Brahmatal Trek starts from the Kathgodam. Located in the Garhwal Himalayan region of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand this trekking trail offers you a peak of Kumaon region along with Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, peaks, and many more.

Although the Brahmatal Trek is preferred by both the beginners and as well as experienced trekkers this trek takes you to the elevation of 3400 meters above sea level. During this trek, you pass through beautiful alpine forests, meadows, valleys, and vast stretches of snow-covered mountain terrains. This trek takes around 30 km long and takes around 6 days to complete. As this trek can be done by anyone with basic fitness it is considered somewhere between the easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. Best Time To Visit Brahmatal Trek

As this trek is considered to be the winter trek the best months to visit Brahmatal Trek are winter months of January and February. During these months you can witness heavy snowfall in the region, you will get to walk on the blanket of snow. The amount of snow is such that it tempts the trekkers from all over the world to take up the challenge of trekking at Brahmatal Trek.

Being a winter trek the weather here is mostly sunny but tends to get very cold during the nights. The temperature here during the day time reaches around 3 degrees to 10-degree centigrade but at nights it drops down up to -5 degrees centigrade which is very freezing.

Weather at Brahmatal Trek 

During the daytime, the temperature here is around 3 to 10 degrees centigrade. The evenings are freezing with temperatures tumbling to – 5 degrees centigrade. Due to its steep slopes and slippery terrain, Brahmatal Trek isn’t ideal during the monsoon months of July and August. Months of March and April are considered to be the best to visit this trek and during this time you will be thrilled to see the tones of rhododendrons blooming over the path. You can observe the red, white, and pink rhododendron which will be a treat to the eyes.

Brahmatal trek is elevated at the height of 3400 mts. It is the trek which is roughly around 24 kilometers and takes around 6 days to serenely finish the trek.

How To Reach Brahmatal

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to Dehradun and is easily accessible, it is just 25 km away from the city. Daily flights from New Delhi are available to this airport. You will have to hire a cab from the airport to Lohajung or you can take a bus to Lohajung, which starts early in the morning from the bus stand.

By Train: The last railway station to reach the basecamp Lohajung is the Dehradun railway station. People often prefer railways over airways because it is cheaper with trains and you get to see the landscape in its full glory, and you will definitely enjoy your way till Dehradun. You will have to hire a private cab from the airport to Lohajung or you can take a bus to Lohajung from the bus stand which starts early in the morning.

By Road: Regular bus service is available from Dehradun which plies government buses that are safe and you can rely on them more than the private buses and also you can hire private cabs for your comfortable journey to the basecamp.
