About Chopta

Chopta, also known as “Mini Switzerland”, is a beautiful hill station in Uttarakhand at an elevation of 2608 meters. There is a short trek from Chopta to Tungnath. Tungnath is the tallest (3680 m) Shiva temple in the world. It is one of the Panch Kedars which is built on the Chandrashila peak. It is said that this temple is 1000 years old and some stories related to it are also told in Mahabharata. 1 hour from Tungnath is Chandrashila Peak (4130 m) from where the view of the Himalayan range and the summit breathes. Trekking through Chopta, you will find more than 76 different species of birds in dense forests. Enjoy the surrounding peaks including Chaukhamba, Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar, and see many more peaks on this track. Chopta to Tungnath is a 1 to 1.30-hour trek on one side. Chopta from Tungnath can return by evening. . This trek is known to be very easy, even children older than 7 years can do this trek.
